CRYSTAL LAKE – The county’s economic development authority is looking for extraordinary companies that are making a difference in McHenry County’s economic landscape.
The McHenry County Economic Development Corp. now is accepting nominations for its 2017 Business Champion Awards.
For its 10th annual award cycle, the organization is seeking “primary employers,” which are those that create products and services that primarily are sold outside of the area. These types of companies – including manufacturing companies, service centers, corporate headquarters and distribution facilities – generate new money and profits for McHenry County and have a positive effect on the local economy, according to a news release from the MCEDC.
Ideal traits in a “Business Champion” typically include strong vision, long-range business strategy and best practices that stand out.
Self-nominations from those proud of a recent expansion, acquisition, special product or growth are welcome.
Nominations will be accepted through Sept. 25.
All nominees are introduced during the MCEDC annual dinner Nov. 7 at the Holiday Inn in Crystal Lake. The 2017 Business Champions will be announced at the dinner and presented with their awards by the keynote speaker – Diane Hendricks, who is chairwoman of ABC Supply Co., a business leader with experience as a business owner, an entrepreneur, an investor, developer, philanthropist and civic leader.
Nomination categories are based on the number of employees. Small is defined as 24 or fewer employees, medium from 25 to 100 and large is more than 100. There is a special category for companies with more than 300 employees.
