McHENRY – A McHenry teen charged with possessing more than 15 grams of heroin remained at the McHenry County Jail as of Monday evening.

Police found Nicholas B. Hitztaler, 19, of the 5200 block of West Shore Drive, in possession of two glass tubes with heroin residue in them, according to charging documents.

He was booked at the McHenry County Jail on Friday, and must post $7,500 bail to be released.

McHenry police and the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office were not available to comment on the details surrounding Hitztaler’s charges.

If convicted of possession of more than 15 grams of heroin, Hitztaler could be sentenced to four to 15 years in prison.

He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday for a bond hearing.
