For 2015 and 2016, Dawn and Paige only sold the inspirational bracelets during October, which is National Breast Cancer Month. This year, they decided to expand the original concept by offering the special necklaces through December. People might like to buy them as holiday gifts, was their reasoning.
And what better gift to offer something beautiful and full of hope?
The idea for creating a design was random, if one believes in coincidence. Dawn saw a peace sign charm and immediately thought how it might bring "peace of mind" to a cancer patient.
She developed the concept from there.
"They're all different," Dawn said. "They all have different charms and beads."
The inspirational necklaces are kept in the counter in plain view of customers. One woman, Dawn said, bought six and wrote notes "signed" from six of her friends.
"They were all donated to cancer patients," Dawn said.
