LA GRANGE – A suspicious duffel bag left Jan. 4 at St. Cletus Parish in La Grange turned out to only contain clothing, according to a La Grange Police Department news release.

The Police Department received a report at 3:15 p.m. of a suspicious person and package at the church at 600 W. 55th St. A white male subject had entered the church and left a duffel bag under the altar. When questioned by a custodian as he left about what he was doing, he "offered only a peculiar reply," the release stated.

Police officers evacuated the building and grounds and established a perimeter, according to the release. The Cook County Department of Homeland Security and Cook County Bomb Squad also responded to the scene.

A suspect has been developed based on evidence found at the scene, the release stated. The investigation is ongoing, and the Police Department's Investigations Division is attempting to locate the subject for questioning.
