Andrew Hester, 30, of the 6000 block of South Campbell Avenue, was charged with armed robbery, a Class X felony, according to the release.

At 2:26 p.m. May 9, the Police Department received a report of an armed robbery at M & H Auto Service Center, 17 W. Ogden Ave., the release stated.

Multiple witnesses who were inside the business reported two African-American men entered the facility, and one of the suspects allegedly pointed a handgun at two men, demanded their personal valuables and verbally threatened them with "great bodily harm," according to the release. The second, unarmed offender remained inside the business during the armed robbery.

There were no reported injuries to any of the victims or witnesses, the release stated.

The suspects allegedly stole two cellphones and one wallet from the victims and exited the store, fleeing on foot for a short distance to a parked vehicle, which left the area prior to police arrival, according to the release.

A suspect and vehicle description were broadcast to surrounding police agencies, and the vehicle, a blue 2001 Buick Regal, was located and stopped by several officers at about 2:35 p.m. near 55th Street and La Grange Road in Countryside, the release stated. Two male occupants and one female occupant were taken into custody without further incident.

Arresting officers recovered a loaded pistol on the passenger front seat floor of the vehicle, according to the release. The stolen proceeds also were recovered from inside the car.

The victims and witnesses provided a positive identification of both suspects: Cargo, the front seat passenger and individual who allegedly was in possession of the firearm, and Hester, the vehicle driver, the release stated. The female backseat occupant initially was detained but later was released without formal charges.

Cargo and Hester appeared May 10 in Cook County 5th District Circuit Court for a bond hearing. Cargo’s bond was set at $1.5 million, and Hester’s bond was set at $1 million, according to the release.
