DOWNERS GROVE – Children got an up close and personal look at the big trucks and equipment at the Downers Grove Public Works open house June 7 at the public works facility, 5101 Walnut Ave.
In addition to climbing onto some of the big rigs, children visited various displays and received public works-themed books and stickers courtesy of the Downers Grove Public Library.
Children also entered a drawing to ride on a public works vehicle during the village’s Independence Day parade. Meanwhile, adults entered a drawing to win a rain barrel or young tree.
Children and parents also posed for pictures in the superhero-themed photo booth.
