Elmhurst police locate man who escaped custody


ELMHURST – Elmhurst police have located a suspect who escaped from custody the evening of June 13.

Police took the suspect into custody without incident at 10:15 p.m. June 13, and formal charges are pending, according to a city of Elmhurst website alert issued at 8:15 a.m. June 14.

The Elmhurst Police Department posted about the missing subject at about 7 p.m. June 13 on its Facebook page. Police were searching near North and Larch avenues for the 38-year-old man wanted for alleged retail theft.

However, at about 9:30 p.m., police posted they believed he was no longer in the immediate vicinity.
