After spending nearly a week with the Philadelphia 76ers as a summer league minicamp invite, Cohn agreed to sign with Hapoel Eilat of the Israeli Basketball Premier League. Cohn was one of the final cuts for the 76ers summer league team that is currently competing in Las Vegas.
“I had a lot of interest from a number of teams from different leagues, but ultimately it came down to the best opportunity and money,” Cohn said July 8. “My agent, Daniel Poneman, did a great job getting a good contract. It’s a great league with a lot of former NBA players and has really high level talent. It’s a phenomenal league the Hapoel Eilat offered me a great contract with playing time and they have a great coach. I’m hoping to come in and be a contributor in my first year. That was really important in my decision making process.”
The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Cohn put himself on the NBA radar with a stellar senior season at William & Mary. He averaged 14.2 points, 6.7 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals for the Tribe last season. Cohn’s overall numbers were even more impressive. He was the only player in the nation to shoot 50 percent from the floor (52.9), 40 percent on 3-pointers (42.6) and 90 percent from the free-throw line (91.2).
