The body of a murdered woman was found July 23 near a warehouse parking lot in Romeoville.
About 1:30 a.m., officers from the Romeoville Police Department were dispatched to a warehouse in the 1800 block of Normantown Road, on the west side of the village, for a semitractor-trailer that had its window broken out, according to a news release.
Officers met with an unidentified person with some ownership or interest in the semitractor-trailer and learned that the damage was the result of a domestic dispute, police said.
During the ensuing investigation, officers canvassed the parking lot of a nearby warehouse and noticed a body in the grass adjacent to the parking lot.
The woman was identified as Jennifer L. Underhill, 42, of Rochelle. According to a police department news release, evidence on the scene indicated that Underhill was murdered. She was pronounced dead at 3:29 a.m.
The results of a preliminary autopsy showed Underhill died from multiple injuries caused by blunt force trauma due to an assault, according to the Will County Coroner’s Office.
The investigation remains ongoing. No arrests had been made Monday.
Although the killer remains at large, he or she poses no danger to the public, Romeoville police said.
