ELMHURST – Locals came out Aug. 8 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Hamburger Heaven at 281 N. York St. in Elmhurst.
At the event, the Elmhurst restaurant sold ice cream cones for half price, had facepainting and sold T-shirts commemorating the anniversary.
Max Molina, who owns the restaurant with his wife, Nia, invited his high school classmates Miguel Sanchez and Roy Adjoran to sell books they have authored and illustrated at the event as well.
Molina has owned the restaurant for three years, and his father-in-law owned the restaurant before him.
Hamburger Heaven opened in May 1948, according to its website. The restaurant also does delivery, the website stated.
