“It feels good,” Williams said. “We kind of lost a bit of momentum last week so coming into this week we knew we needed to win another conference game to just make sure we reinstate the fact that we should be [seeded] third in sectionals because we’ve earned that position.”
That the Lions are seeded that high is a testament to the cohesiveness of a group that has exceeded expectations. LT returned only seven players, none of them starters, and there is nary a college recruit among them.
But the versatile Williams has been a linchpin. He began the season at striker, moved briefly to midfield and now is playing lockdown defense.
“I just think he brings stability and [a lot] of communication,” Locke said. “We lost a bunch of great pieces [to graduation] and Ty just brings that communication and organization and he saves us in the back a lot.
“If one person makes a mistake, Ty is always there to clean it up and save us.”
