Guardian Corps of America is seeking donations for its Operation Edda campaign to help distribute survival kits to the homeless population, including American military veterans
who are homeless.
The campaign began Jan. 16, 2016, and it distributes kits throughout the city of Chicago and its suburbs, according to an organization news release.
The organization needs warm winter gloves, socks, T- shirts, caps and scarves.
People can donate by contacting Guardian Corps of America at info@usaguardian.org or 630-415-3281. The organization can arrange to pick up the items or have donors deliver them.
The organization is holding a kit-stuffing event Oct. 13, so donors are asked to make contributions as soon as possible.
The kit program was started by Guardian Corps of America founder and President Anthony La Piana as a tribute to his mother, Edda Conte-La Piana, who was dedicated to helping the less fortunate, according to an organization flyer.
