BERWYN – Berwyn will host a variety of activities for children this Easter season. From egg hunts to a parade, there’s plenty of family fun.
Breakfast with the Bunny
Pav YMCA, 2947 Oak Park Ave., will host a continental breakfast, games, crafts, an egg hunt and an appearance from the Easter Bunny from 9 to 11 a.m. April 13. The event is free, but registration is required. Contact Sabina Garcia at 708-749-0606, ext. 321, or firstname.lastname@example.org for information.
Morton High School will host an egg hunt and photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny from 10 to 10:30 a.m. April 19. There is a suggested $1 donation.
On April 20, the North Berwyn Park District will scatter 20,000 candy-filled eggs outside Jefferson Park Field, Wenonah Avenue and 16th Street, for children to find. The event starts at 10 a.m. and is free.
Mike Gianatasio, superintendent of recreation for North Berwyn Park District, suggests families arrive early for both events as the initial rush to pick up eggs usually lasts only five to 10 minutes.
“We’re encouraging folks to try and get there between 9:30 and 9:50 so that they don’t miss out on anything,” Gianatasio said.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20, the North Berwyn Park District will host a celebration of everything Easter at Prairie Oak School gym, 1427 Oak Park Ave. From carnival games, crafts, an inflatable slide and a photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny, Berwyn’s Easter Eggstravaganza is one of the bigger Easter season events.
Families are welcome to celebrate the holiday with the 16th Street Easter Parade, which will feature a number of floats and the Easter Bunny. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. and will end at 11 a.m. Those wanting to enter a float or a group into the parade can call 708-749-4900.
Easter basket delivery
The Easter Bunny will deliver children’s specially made baskets to their door from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. April 20. Those interested can register and drop off their decorated basket at the Community Center, 1619 Wesley Ave., between April 17 and 19 during normal business hours. North Berwyn residents are eligible for the event. Each basket delivery costs $5.
