BLOOMINGDALE – Chicago Ballet Conservatory is on the hunt for a boy to dance the role of Fritz for its "Nutcracker" production returning to the Hemmens Cultural Arts Center in Elgin in December. Auditions will take place at 1 p.m. April 7 in Bloomingdale.
"[CBC] is looking for young boys with a strong desire to share the stage with some of the best performing artists from around the world," Linda Cunningham of Batavia, who directs the ballet, stated in a news release.
She said she is looking for fearless boys ages 7 to 12 years with "strong memorization skills, great facial expressions and that certain magic.” No previous experience is required.
The ballet will be performed Dec. 6 to 8, accompanied by the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Stephen Squires.
"Promising to be one of the most extravagant and creative suburban reprisals, the performance will feature professionals from around the world, including Raoni Xavier (Bolshoi Brazil) and Roger Hendricks Simon, veteran actor/director of stage and screen, who will be reprising his role as Drosselmeyer," Cunningham said.
Auditions will take place at Mohler Dance Academy/Chicago Ballet Conservatory, 160 S Bloomingdale Road, Bloomingdale.
There is a $20 audition fee and picture required. Candidates must pre-register by calling Chicago Ballet Conservatory at 630-893-1444. For more information, email MohlerDanceInfo@sbcglobal.net or visit CBCNutcracker.com.
