BERWYN – The Berwyn Public Health District and Berwyn Township will host their 39th annual Health & Fitness Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 6 at Lesak Park, 6600 W. 26th St.
The fair is open to the public at no charge. Health screenings will be free to Berwyn residents from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents must provide a valid photo ID as proof of their current Berwyn address in order to partake in the services.
Screenings will include thyroid, a complete metabolic panel, hemoglobin, height, weight, BMI, blood pressure, measles protection screening and colon health lab screening. No appointment is needed, but it is required to fast at least eight hours before the screening. While fasting, patients are allowed to drink water and take their usual medications. Everyone screened must make a return appointment to receive and review their results with a medical professional.
The fair will include components of health, and Momentum Fitness will coordinate with local fitness organizations to provide demonstrations throughout the day. Information about physical activity and healthy living will be available, as well as information about mental health.
Heartland Blood Centers will host a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are recommended for the blood drive, but walk-ins are welcome. Donors must present a valid photo ID. Blood donors also must ensure that they have eaten a meal within two hours before donating. Register via www.ht.heartlandbc.org or call the Health District at 708-788-6600.
