ABOUT: The debut Tylerman Film Festival will present more than 30 films, many promoting social awareness and change. The festival begins with a red-carpet event for filmmakers. One of two featured films is “Making the Five Heartbeats,” a documentary by Robert Townsend about creating his 1991 film. The second is NAACP Image Award winner “Say Her Name: The Life and Death of Sandra Bland.” The mother and sister of Sandra Bland, who grew up in the western suburbs, will take questions after the screening.
