Celebrate the legacy of a loved one: Family-Named Scholarship

For some families, providing a Catholic education for their children is not financially feasible.

And that’s where other families can step in.

By partnering with the Catholic Education Foundation, they can create a family-named scholarship in honor of a loved one in order to aid the organization’s mission to make Catholic education accessible for all Diocese of Joliet families and children.

Donors who choose to create a family-named scholarship can determine if they want their names shared with the student or receive ongoing reports of the students’ progress. Some donors prefer to remain anonymous. Ultimately, the donor has the flexibility to establish the amount of the scholarship award based on the minimum initial donation and any additional contributions to the fund. Donors can also restrict financial aid to a specific school or student demographic in the name of their family or loved ones.

Last year nearly 200 students benefitted directly from funds such as the Kaminski Family Fund, the Bob and Joan Dempsey Endowed Scholarship and the Kevin Hansen Memorial Scholarship.

Family-named scholarships and endowed scholarship funds start with a minimum investment to the Catholic Education Foundation of $5,000 to $15,000.

Join these families and others who are supporting Catholic school financial aid while celebrating the legacy of their loved ones through a family-named scholarship.

In 2017-18, the CEF distributed more than $2.1 million to 1,648 students in Diocese of Joliet Catholic elementary and high schools. In addition to scholarships, the foundation funded parish education ministry grants and continuing education loans for teachers.
