Catholic tuition assistance grants are available to high school students

The Catholic Education Foundation of the Diocese of Joliet wants to make Catholic education accessible to all students.

To that end, the organization partners with donors to create need-based scholarship and grant opportunities.

And that tuition assistance extends to high schoolers.

Annually, the CEF is able to award high school students who qualify a grant in the amount of $1,000. Families with a verified financial need are encouraged apply.

In 2017-18, CEF partnerships allowed for the distribution of more than $2.1 million to 1,648 elementary and secondary Catholic school students throughout the Diocese. And since the Foundation’s establishment in 1996, the CEF has awarded more than $20 million in need-based scholarships to 15,500 students.

Links on the CEF website provide more specific information about each of the scholarship and grant opportunities available.

For instance, in order for high school students to be considered for a tuition assistance grant, they must attend a Catholic Diocese of Joliet parish and indicate parish membership on the grant and aid application form.

Applications can be obtained from the financial aid office at the high school or can be completed online at There is a $30 application fee. Questions on completing the application may be answered by calling the FACTS Helpline directly at 1-866-441-4637. Each application is reviewed by an independent source outside the Diocese.
