CEF distributes more than 1,600 scholarships each year

Published:

Each year, more than 1,600 area students are able to attain a Catholic education they previously thought was financially out of reach.

Who makes it possible? Members of the Catholic Education Foundation and their diverse group of donor partners.

Since its incorporation in 1996, the charitable organization has been dedicated to the advancement of Catholic education in the Diocese of Joliet and its seven counties including DuPage, Ford, Grundy, Iroquois, Kankakee, Kendall and Will.

In 2017-18, the Foundation was able to distribute more than $2.1 million in tuition grants to 1,648 students in Catholic elementary and high schools throughout the Diocese of Joliet. And since 1996, more than $20 million in need-based scholarships have been distributed to 15,500 students.

Funding is generated through the organization’s annual scholarship campaign, corporate sponsorships, and donor directed planned gifts. Each year, that funding helps to grow the number of students who can receive aid.

Tuition assistance grants are determined on an annual basis and families must apply each year in order to be considered. Families with a verified financial need are encouraged to apply. Applications are accepted on-line from January through March each year at http://cefjoliet.org/. Click on ‘scholarships and grants.’

Over the past year, the CEF and its donor partners were able to change the lives of 1,648 students. They want to see that number continue to grow.

Join them today on their quest to make Catholic education a reality for even more children in the Diocese of Joliet.
