While college students spend a lot of time attending classes, doing homework and studying for exams, there's always time for extracurricular pursuits. At Morton College in Cicero, the Campus Activities Board (CAB) creates and provides a wide variety of entertainment options through activities held on Morton College's campus.
"Morton College's Campus Activity Board is a student programming board that creates and produces many campus activities and events," said Gabriela Mata, CAB Advisor through the Student Activities Office. "The group provides a wide variety of entertainment and cultural, educational, and recreational activities for the Morton College community. Members also attend Leadership conferences throughout the United States."
As the CAB Advisor, Mata assists in the planning of all events on campus. "I collaborate with the Board frequently during large-scale events like Welcome Week," she explained. "I attend all off-campus field trips, regional and national conferences, and meetings on campus. I also review and approve all purchase, activity, and meeting requests, and provide leadership, guidance, and knowledge to the club members."
The CAB brings excitement and life to the campus with the many creative and fun events that it hosts. "For the future, our goals for the Campus Activity Board include expanding the resources available on campus so that Morton College students have the help they need to succeed," added Mata. "We want to show our members how to be student leaders, and we want them to volunteer for our events on campus while networking with other students and with staff. They can learn about other clubs and organizations at Morton that they can join, as well as stay updated with campus news and events. They'll get exposure to new responsibilities that they can utilize for their future endeavors, and will enjoy their overall college experience."
