Nobody likes plumbing problems; a backed up toilet, a burst pipe, you name it. We may dread having to call the plumber, but he — or she — is more than someone who makes our lives easier, happier, and much more tolerable.
“People already know plumbers keep your water safe and keep you from dying from all sorts of diseases,” says Betsy Hardy, president of Jay’s Plumbing, in Downers Grove. “But a good plumber forms relationships with their customers. We don't treat people like a fish in barrel. We want to know your home better than you do.”
Jay’s lists their mission statement on their website — a litany of the commitments a dedicated plumber makes to customers. “Those are the principles we live by,” Hardy says. Rather than just a handyman showing up in a truck, a good plumber believes in continuing education. We have safety and training meetings every week. We believe in the plumbing code. We believe in studying it and exacting it. We believe a professional plumber is an ally for the health and safety of the people in your home and business. Those are the qualities we abide by.”
Jay’s trucks are always fully stocked, completely branded and marked. “Our plumbers come to your front door with badges and they undergo background and drug checks, are fully insured, licensed and bonded,” adds Hardy.
“A professional plumber should provide you with a certain safety net,” says Hardy. “We’ve been doing this a long time. We believe in what we do.”
Jay’s provides customized, relevant solutions to plumbing issues, offering minimum, advanced and warrantied fixes. “Our job is to say, ‘Here are your options. Let us help you make the best choice for your business and your home,” says Hardy. “We provide the information, answer questions and let our customers decide what’s best for their home or business, and are there to support them in that decision.”
