Candle deemed the cause of Wheaton house fire

Wheaton firefighters required minutes Feb. 26 to battle a house fire in the zero to 100 block of Dandra Drive.

Firefighters arrived at about 2:45 p.m. and identified a fire on the second floor of the single-family residence. The building was occupied at the time of the fire, and all occupants escaped safely. No one was injured, according to a Wheaton Fire Department news release.

An investigation revealed the cause of the fire was accidental and appears to be related to a candle in use, according to Wheaton Fire Department investigators.

Damage estimates are unavailable. The Wheaton Building Department was called to the scene. Firefighters were assisted by Wheaton police and fire departments from neighboring communities.

The building was turned back over to the property owner after the fire.
