MAC to offer DRUM TAO broadcast as it cancels events through May 15

GLEN ELLYN – In concert with College of DuPage leadership, the McAninch Arts Center in Glen Ellyn is postponing public events, but will host a free Facebook Live broadcast performance of DRUM TAO 2020 at 7:30 p.m. March 14.

The MAC states in a news release that the College of DuPage announced that “Effective immediately, all events (internal, hosted and rental at the main campus, COD regional centers, and the MAC) for the remainder of the spring 2020 semester are canceled.”

In recognition of the public need for entertainment, especially at this time, the MAC and Columbia Artists collaborated on the innovative way to offer theater audiences the opportunity to view DRUM TAO 2020 direct from the MAC’s Belushi Performance Hall, the release stated.

"Viewers wishing to express their gratitude for the chance to catch this amazing ensemble via Facebook Live [at shawurl.com/3clq] are encouraged to make a donation to the MAC," the release stated. "More than eight million spectators across the world have experienced DRUM TAO’s critically acclaimed, high-energy performances … combining highly physical, large-scale Japanese drumming with contemporary costumes and innovative choreography."

McAninch Arts Center has announced it is canceling performances through May 15. Canceled shows include COD College Theater’s “Scenes From an Execution” (March 13, 14, 15), Lewis Black's ”It Gets Better Every Day” (March 14), DRUM TAO 2020 (March 15), U.S. Army Band and Soldier’s Chorus Free Concert (March 17), Visiting Artist Series-Mary Mattingly (March 18), COD College Theater’s “Clue” (March 26-April 5), and New Philharmonic: “A Salute to Frida” (April 18-19).

The MAC Box Office will contact all paid ticket holders via email with directions on how to exchange their tickets or receive a credit. Ticket holders are asked to be patient as the MAC works through the process that will provide details on how to process credit or refund.

"Please note that the Frida Kahlo 2020 exhibition presented by the Cleve Carney Museum of Art and the McAninch Arts Center at the College of DuPage will open as scheduled June 1 and continue through Aug. 31," the release stated.
