La Grange

District 106 seeks candidates for open school board seat

La Grange Highlands School District 106 is accepting applications to fill the school board seat left vacant by Lori Bryant, who no longer resides in the district.

The school board must appoint someone to fill the remainder of Bryant’s four-year term, which runs until April 2021.

Residents interested in applying for the position must be at least 18 years old, have lived in the district for at least one year and are registered to vote.

Interested candidates should contact Kathy Schmitt, recording board secretary, at kschmitt@district106.net to receive an electronic candidate application. For additional information, contact Schmitt at 708-485-3176 and leave a voice mail message.

Due to the COVID-19 situation, applications should be sent electronically, but if electronic means is not available, send to: La Grange Highlands School District 106, 750 Plainfield Road, La Grange, Ill, 60525, Attn:’n: Kathy Schmitt.

Applications must be received no later than 4:30 p.m. April 3, 2020. Applications received by the deadline will be forwarded to board members for review.

A special board meeting will be held on at 7 p.m. April 9 where selected candidates will be interviewed during the closed session of the meeting. Due to COVID-19, the interviews will be set up in a virtual setting. The details will be provided to selected candidates.

An appointment to the board is expected to take place shortly following the interviews so that the new member can be seated by the next board meeting on April 21.
