Art students at St. Francis High School in Wheaton to display talents in virtual show

Artwork by students from St. Francis High School, who come from the Wheaton area, the Fox Valley and beyond, will be showcased online May 12.

St. Francis High School in Wheaton announced the art exhibit will remain true to tradition by showcasing works of art by over 150 SFHS students. The only difference between this year’s show and those from years past is that audiences will be able to view the entire show virtually, a news release stated.

The show will feature over 200 pieces from all levels of art: AP, Art 4, Art 3, Art 2, Visual Art, Digital Art and Communications Design.

“We display work from all levels and enjoy having the opportunity to showcase all the hard work our students put into their creations throughout the year,” Kate Doane, performing and visual arts teacher, stated in the release.

“The show gives viewers the ability to see how our artists progress throughout our program, following the journey from Art One to AP,” she said. “With the restrictions in place as a result of COVID-19, we aren't able to showcase our students' work as we usually do with our Annual Art Show. This year's virtual show will be different, but performing and visual arts teacher Tia Holinger and I look forward to celebrating all our students' accomplishments, and helping them share their gifts with the wider community.”

Typically, the show is attended by the community and is judged by local artists – this year only AP will be judged.
