The Illinois Department of Public Health announced that all Illinois-based community testing sites are closed Tuesday, June 2. It is the second straight day these community-based testing sites are closed.

Those sites include: The Chicago Premium Outlets mall in Aurora, as well as community-based testing sites in Rockford, Waukegan, Rolling Meadows, Harwood Heights, South Holland, Chatham, East St. Louis, Champaign and Peoria.

No official explanation was given for the testing sites to close, though demonstrations around the state have continued for days in protest over George Floyd, a handcuffed black man who died while in Minneapolis police custody.

Monday, the department announced 974 new coronavirus cases and an additional 23 deaths to bring the officially listed statewide totals to 121,234 cases and 5,412 deaths. 918,273 tests have been performed at the recovery rate listed by the IDPH is 92%.

Per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1,787,680 cases of coronavirus have been tallied in the United States with 104,396 cases officially attributed to the virus.
