DuPage County reports 104 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, 2 deaths

The DuPage County Health Department on Wednesday reported 104 new cases of COVID-19 in the county, including the deaths of a woman in her 70s and a woman in her 80s.

The county now has seen a total of 16,284 coronavirus cases including 546 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of September 8 was 95.3%.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen four days of positivity increases and three days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate remained flat at 5.8%. Currently, 34% of medical/surgical beds are available and 48% of ICU beds.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,466 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 20 additional deaths Tuesday.

By town, Wheaton has had 694 total cases, Glen Ellyn 517, Lombard 780, Villa Park 465, Hinsdale 332, Westmont 541, Downers Grove 631, Elmhurst 777, Warrenville 238 and Winfield 147. Addison has had 1,176 confirmed cases, Naperville 1,191, Carol Stream 873 and West Chicago 1,111.

The health department provides further information on its data dashboard for COVID-19-related hospitalizations, deaths, lab positivity and outbreak-associated counts by municipality. This additional information replaces the information that was previously provided daily in this format.
