With Election Day just over two weeks away, early voting is expanding across DuPage County.

DuPage County will have early voting at 18 sites across the county starting Oct. 19. The number of sites is a 50% increase from the 12 sites open during the primary to include areas that have been underserved by early voting, said DuPage County clerk Jean Kaczmarek.

DuPage County has already had more than 16,000 voters vote early since early voting began at the DuPage County Fairgrounds Sept. 24. The county has received and verified nearly 80,000 vote by mail ballots.

Seventeen of the 18 early voting sites will be touchscreen only, with the DuPage County Fairgrounds offering touchscreen and paper ballots. Most early voting sites are open seven days a week until Nov. 2.

The College of DuPage, Elmhurst City Hall and Darien Safety Village sites are open Monday through Saturday, through Oct. 31. Specific hours can be found at DupageCo.org/EarlyVoting.

“Typically lines become longer at early voting closer to Election Day. If a voter intends to go to an Early Voting site, the sooner the better,” Kaczmarek said in a statement.

Safety protocols will be followed at each of the early voting sites, including extended hours, masks for poll workers, regular cleaning of equipment and touchscreens with sanitizing wipes and signage reminding voters to stay six feet apart. Single-use masks will be provided by the Clerk's Office for those voters who forget their mask.
