The DuPage County Health Department on Thursday reported 239 new cases of COVID-19 in the county, with three deaths, a woman in her 40s, a woman in her 70s and a man in his 70s.
The county now has seen a total of 21,564 coronavirus cases including 603 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of October 6 was 96.0%.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 10 days of positivity increases and five days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate increased from 9.2% to 9.4%, well above the state's threshold of 8%. It marked the 15th consecutive day the positivity rate has gone up in this region. Currently, 29% of medical/surgical beds are available and 46% of ICU beds.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported a single-day state record of 4,942 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 44 additional deaths Thursday.
By town, Wheaton has had 920 total cases, Glen Ellyn 728, Lombard 1,060, Villa Park 629, Hinsdale 399, Westmont 649, Darien 406, Downers Grove 918, Elmhurst 1,139, Warrenville 313 and Winfield 191. Addison has had 1,530 confirmed cases, Naperville 1,602, Carol Stream 1,161 and West Chicago 1,343.
The health department provides further information on its data dashboard for COVID-19-related hospitalizations, deaths, lab positivity and outbreak-associated counts by municipality. This additional information replaces the information that was previously provided daily in this format.
