3 Things to Know About Preventative HVAC Maintenance

SPONSORED

It’s frustrating when your air conditioner or furnace breaks down, especially when you don’t know the cause of the problem.  One of the best ways to avoid equipment malfunctions with your HVAC system is to have preventative maintenance performed annually.  Just like you have to take your vehicle in to be serviced every 5,000 miles in order for it to run efficiently and safely, it’s important to schedule an annual check-up for your furnace and air conditioning systems.  Here are 3 things to know about preventative HVAC maintenance:

1. You’ll save money in the long run.  Your equipment will run more efficiently, which will reduce your monthly energy bills.  If a part is wearing out, or if you’re noticing a change in how your systems are running, a routine maintenance visit is the time to discuss it and make any necessary repairs.  You won’t have to pay for a separate visit down the road, and you won’t have to deal with a broken unit in the near future.

2.  Your equipment will be more durable and will have a longer useful life.  Just like with your vehicle, machines need periodic maintenance; otherwise, they’re more prone to unpredictable breakdowns, and in the long run may have shorter lifespans.  Your furnace should be tuned up prior to the peak heating season, and your air conditioner should be checked before temperatures begin to rise to uncomfortable levels outdoors.

3.  Most manufacturer’s warranties require annual equipment maintenance in order to remain valid.  Neglecting annual tune-ups could result in losing your warranty, which could lead to high repair costs if the unit malfunctions during the peak of the season.
