3 Advantages of Hardwood Flooring

SPONSORED

If you're in the market for new flooring, the options are nearly endless.  The first thing to decide is whether you want a hard surface floor or carpeting; once you determine that, you can select from the myriad of designs within that category.  While carpeting offers warmth, softness, sound cushioning and a lower price tag, hardwood flooring is actually the better choice for many homeowners.  Here are 3 advantages of hardwood flooring:

1.  It's a lot easier to keep clean.  "I have many clients who ask my opinion about selecting hardwood flooring versus carpeting," explained Lexie Psyhos, Marketing Manager for Performers Flooring & Design Gallery in Bloomingdale.  "I tell them hardwood all the way.  It's easy to keep clean with a broom and a vacuum cleaner.  You can't ruin it.  Mud and pet accidents are easy to wipe up, but you can't do that with carpeting.  Carpeting requires more intense cleaning procedures."

2.  Hardwood floors are hypo-allergenic.  "Allergens that enter the home are easy to clean off of hardwood floors," added Psyhos.  "The allergens settle into carpets and hide there, and can be a lot more difficult to remove.  With carpeting, you have to have it professionally cleaned a couple times a year to keep it really clean."

3.  Hardwood doesn't have to be replaced if it sustains damage.  "Over many years, hardwood may show light scratches from pets, children, and furniture if the floors aren't properly cared for," said Psyhos.  "In that event, it can be sanded down and restained, it doesn't have to be replaced.  With carpeting, over time you have to replace it."

All in all, selecting hardwood flooring versus carpeting comes down to personal preference.  "Hardwood is classic, but is also modern and trendy, with a large variety of color options and patterns," said Psyhos.  "While carpeting offers some great choices too, hardwood has terrific advantages that make it a superior choice for many homeowners."  For more information, please contact:
